I am a recent Astrophysics Ph.D. graduate from Arizona State University School of Earth & Space Exploration. In Fall 2024, I will join as a postdoctoral associate at the University of California, San Diego.
At ASU, I worked with Dr. Sanchayeeta Borthakur on understanding how gas accretion from the circum-galactic medium fuels star formation in galaxies, especially in the outer parts. I specifically study how star formation in the outskirts of nearby galaxies is different from the star formation in their optical disks, and how this may lead to stellar build-up and inside-out stellar disk growth.
My interest in astrophysics picqued when I took a certificate course in Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Mumbai, while undertaking a B.S. in Physics from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. I went on to attend Pondicherry University where I received an M.S. in Astronomy and Astrophysics.
Now, I lead the UV and Hα surveys under the DIISC program (Deciphering the Interplay between Interstellar Medium, Stars, and Circumgalactic Medium; PI: Borthakur). I use panchromatic imaging data from various space and ground-based telescopes, including, GALEX, Spitzer, HST, VLA, SDSS, LBT, and VATT.
